Still out here grinding though the design focus has shifted somewhat lately from the digital web stuff to structures and farm related "technology", if you will. But I haven't quit on the digital stuff.
Still out here swangin' too. Lately, my music interests have been mostly centered around the house genre coming out of South Africa. Although, I did just get to know about a young drummer from the US who arranges great music. It's rare to find a drummer to lead a band but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense. Have your heard of Yussef Dayes? I'm diggin' the sound, man. It's old and new at the same time. Check them out! Still singing praises to the Most High Yah in Christ and still love worship music but these secular licks are on my the playlist right now, No lie... Steel Pulse - Babylon Makes the Rules Murumba Pitch ft. Muziqal Chef & Kabza De Small - Hlasela Wizkid - Bad To Me Chaka Khan - Everywhere Anita Baker - Caught Up in the Rapture The Yussef Dayes Experience - Live from Joshua Tree (Soulection) Fourplay - Dream Come True DJ Stokie, Ben Da Prince - Feelings Mike Dawes & Tommy Emmanuel - Somebody I Used To Know Maurice Brown - The Cycle of Love Check iT out. ;) Simple question, right? But this could be a complicated answer for many because so many are operating in a reactive mode. Do you hear the singing from the Lord Jesus? Do you sing with Him? At any point in the day do you think about the Great High Priest who saves your soul from an eternal life of damnation? Do you plea for His counsel as much as you plead with mankind? Believe it or not, every man and woman lives forever just like the Mighty and Righteous God who made us in the same image. Yes, you will live after this life, each of us an eternal life. The most crucial part is whether that life is spent in eternal glory with the Creator of Heaven and Earth or whether it's spent in eternal torment as a result of never accepting True Love into your heart. Are you listening for the Lord of Lords? Are you seeking the God of Salvation in a falling world? It is written that those who cause destruction on the Earth will face an eternal life of destructive torment (Revelation 11:18). So again I ask simply, what you listening to? Isaiah Terry is currently listening to.. Other songs on playlist: Midnite - High Order Earth Wind and Fire - Written in the Stone Lifechanging Nechavava - Ichava Nhorowondo Midnite - Praise Jah Ricky Dillard - Amazing Wayman Tisdale - Secret Place and many more.. Photo credit: Isaiah Terry Raising chickens is really such an amazingly rewarding experience and it reaches far beyond any potential monetary gain. As I look back on this journey which began with me worrying for a couple days that they'd survive in mail transit to the day I picked them up (March 12th) from the Post Office, and caring for these little hatchlings that couldn't even see straight to now collecting their eggs and making so many observations of their development along the way. It demanded faith and perseverance and compassion, and tenderness along the way to a depth that I did not expect. I totally recommend it if it's allowed in your town. I've learned a whole bunch about life, the natural world, and myself in so many ways that I can't even list them all here. A holistic experience? Maybe so. I will say this: It feels like a life changing event and it's one that I wholeheartedly embrace. Photo credit: iStock by Getty Images Understand that blackness is not really a skin color. From a colonial standpoint sure probably so but in the truest and most spiritual sense this is not the case at all. Just look at the wide variety of colors that black people possess throughout the diaspora. Even many albinos identify as black people.
For ages and centuries, and most importantly still to this day, to be black is to be extremely thirsty and awfully hungry for justice. I could produce an enormous list of atrocities if I were to look back at the last five hundred years. To a time before we were labeled black or African or African American or any label other than our true name which would have been given by loved ones in our native tongue, and that language would've undoubtedly been one spoken by ancestors five hundred years prior. I could produce this list but it would only make you emotional. Real justice is holy and handed down from a holy and just God (The Almighty). So understanding that truly this deep craving for justice is the real identity of our people, we should see an end to these Blue Lives Matter and All Lives Matter counter protests. And more people can wake up to see how wrong it is to form any organization or alliance in contrast to the yearning of a suffering people, living in a barren land where justice has been like a mirage. At the same time, black people (regardless of race), we must be absolutely outraged and even more passionate and so much more vigilant in protest when little black skinned boys are out here killing each other, and over worldly things especially - like sneakers, reputation, drugs, and prostitution. May those cries for justice be pure and holy. We need to be just as ready to toss some furniture for these atrocities. Don't even protest the police force no more and don't record them if you're expecting their transformation to be the fix in our communities. You remember the saying, "It takes a village to raise a child". We can't be okay with these outrageous rap lyrics that black skinned young men and women are spewing over our communities, even while playing the songs around the infant children, then turn around and expect the police to come and restore the peace after the block was gunned down at the house party that was too loud and flagrant five hours ago. I don't care what they call them. We are the peace keepers and we must be willing to give all it takes to ensure that justice and peace and can truly be quenched here. We have to till the soil. We have to pray for the rain. We have to dig the wells. We have to fix the busted pipes. No other force can assume that authority and we won't have that authority in our communities unless it's handed down from the King of Kings, the only true authority and only by His spirit at work within us thru a relationship with the Most High God by faith in His sovereignty and power to do so. In closing, there are many ways to protest that do not involve unrest, no shouting, no signs, or being in mass gatherings, getting on TV, or going to jail. In this age, it's a protest just to live right. In the face of all the wrong ways to go and all the temptations and societal ills abound - that's right. It's counter culture to live righteously. One example: Ok, so you got the girl pregnant, now it's time to man up, take responsibility and be there for her as she carries your child and be a Dad to your child. If you stay as a couple, accept the challenge of being a good mate. It's time to make that commitment and accept the changes and challenges and the blessings. This is an act of protest. Not just for yourself but for the whole village. There was a saying that goes, "the revolution will not be televised". You probably heard that before. I don't know where it originated from but I heard it from Gil Scott Heron. He is essentially saying that the true transformation is a spiritual one. When the soul of a man is freed, he is no longer bound to the chains and he does not return to those chains. He goes on walking in freedom and becomes everything he truly is as an ambassador for the God of Justice. This is the most powerful display of protest any man or woman can be regardless of what you look like or the uniform you wear. (1) Light shines out in every direction and (2) there is no competition in the Kingdom of Heaven, just harmony. Photo credit: Isaiah Terry On this day, I just want to share that I'm thankful to my God who is true and unfailing love, and for the people who came before me. These people who stood up, spoke out, and wedged a rod until the chains cracked and squealed. There's more work to be done, sure, but that gives our generation something to do.
Probably my favorite thing about art... Maybe I'd say lighting if you consider that an aspect of art - but texture.. Inspiring a series of torn paper sculptures. Got me up here taking pictures of tree bark and thangs... Which lead to a series of posters focused on the subject.
I love this time of year when everything starts springing into action. Of course, the super-fast growing radishes came up first, and they taste delicious. Hopefully, we'll have a huge harvest of mustard and collard greens before Easter time with family. Say a prayer for me. Photo by Isaiah Terry Had to capture it. You know this world is running wild with no sure destination in mind. Just going and busy at it. We get caught up in it too just trying make ends meet, am I right? But if you have moments where you pause and witness the Lord's glory in peace on display in the day, It's like a gift every time - a brand spanking new gift every day. Of course, waking up is the first gift to us but there are many more to receive in the day. If you would like to have a relationship with Jesus Christ yourself, feel free to contact me and we will talk and pray together for your deliverance, from this wild disorderly place into the one full of peace and quiet. Photo credit: Isaiah Terry Did you know each snowflake that comes fluttering gently from high up in Heaven down to the Earth has its own unique pattern distinguishing itself from the rest? (link) To me, this is a powerful revelation of the glory that is on display from The Almighty One. Now when that snowflake is joined with others, it becomes a small drop in a bucket to a much larger snow cap upon a mountaintop, across an open field, or perhaps atop your car in a parking lot. From there it is no longer distinguished apart from the rest but joined in oneness. Eventually, the collection transforms into water drops which saturate the Earth, replenishing the soil for food to grow, and feeding springs and river systems. There is no way to truly judge where that snowflake is once it's joined to the body of the river. It's completely different. In this same way we are made, patterned after God the Creator (Christ Jesus) in likeness (Genesis 1:27). Just like the individual snowflake, we as believers in Christ, all serve a purpose to a much greater body than ourselves. Even those who haven't arrived yet but that eventually work with us are joined to us as well. Because Jesus is True Divine Love, and we accept Him to live in our hearts, we are also love, working with other believers in unison to saturate the world with His order and nature by His power at work within us (1 John 4:7-8). So what is this that gives me the audacity to claim to be 'it'? Certainly not that I'm more important or that I am better than the next "snowflake", right? Because together we are so much greater and more impacting. It is His Love (which is pure) that inspires this and His purpose to bring it to us. The peace and love that we all naturally desire deep down is found in only Jesus Christ who calls Heaven His resting place. So, for me it's with honor and humility that I claim 'it', because I am accepting my role, that commitment, my purpose, that responsibility to live this. Accountable to my Creator for the life that I'm given. You too must lay claim to this vision. When we get this, we will have Peace that stretches far beyond our own soul and reach. Individually and in harmony with each other. Together being moved by the Holy Spirit, we can tame this wide wild world of sports. (Genesis 1:28). Rather, it is my hope that we all get this. There is far too much suffering going on in the world for 'it' to be dismissed. If you would like a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for yourself, feel free to message me. We will pray together for your deliverance. For those who would like more of a scientific explanation on snowflakes, check out this video from "It's Okay To Be Smart", and see for yourself: source: http://www.its.caltech.edu/~atomic/snowcrystals/photos3/photos3-old.htm Posted by Isaiah Terry, a servant You will find that my interests are more centered on photography than illustrations but I still manage to get the message across with a pencil. For those intense illustrative projects, you can expect me to reach out for a little help from my colleagues. They are much more talented there and eagerly waiting to pitch in. Still, here is a small collection of sketches from the past few years. Don't get me wrong. Each time I'm challenged with a project I start with sketches even if it's just roughs to help develop ideas, whether it's for a business card or a website. While these drawings help to uncover ideas, and develop concepts you won't see them hanging up as wall art. One of the reasons why I chose to become a web/graphic designer is because I discovered I could still do this without being a great illustrator. So if you are someone who is interested in design but you don't have the best drawing skills, don't you worry. You can still be a very effective designer without ridiculous drawing skills. Take it from me. Last but not least, below you'll find the one and only scratch board illustration in my portfolio. This was for a class project back in 2009. I really dig the style itself but I have not had any projects come up that require those materials since then. Can you name this artist? Drawings by Isaiah Terry
The morning glory bloom is pretty all by itself but look at the mystical world revealed in that water drop sitting in this one. Photos by Isaiah Terry This is a limited collection of photos that showcase my general interests and common opportunities in photography. I've been blessed to witness some really beautiful landscapes throughout my life but I would enjoy working with people on photographic projects some day as well. Consider photography services for your family reunions, birthdays, weddings, private or corporate events, and more. Photos by I-stock Seattle, Washington This poster was for a community fund-raising event back in 2011, to help raise awareness plus encourage compassion and support for people living with HIV/AIDS. I often find myself with music playing, whether I'm working with my headphones on or the Bluetooth speaker box, dabbling with an instrument, or jammin' the car stereo. It's easy to get caught up in the vibrations of life for an artist of any genre, leading some to break away from what real life is all about in these fields fixed on dreaming and imagination. What truly keeps me going is my savior Christ Jesus, reading the Holy Bible, praying, and trusting in my relationship with the Everlasting Father. On this journey, I've discovered some pretty amazing tunes that inspire me to live faithfully, remain hopeful, and be mindful of love along the way. This is why I'm moved to share this fine tune I just heard for the first time. It's funny because I've been a Roy Hargrove fan for many years but never heard this song until now and then this live version. Check it out and enjoy! Artist: Roy Hargrove

Let's face it, designing can be a grind. You gotta have hobbies that allow you to break away from the screen, the idea, the problem, everything. If you do, you'll discover a world of color and scents that reward the spirit so deeply that you actually become a better designer. Don't get it twisted. It will challenge you. Especially the pests that want to dig in before your crop is ready! Regardless, it matters! It's huge! In fact, I've become a better photographer (another hobby) since I've started gardening and photographing the progress. I highly recommend combining your interests to work for you in an interconnected way like this. It can open so many avenues for future projects as well.
